The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II ultra-compact zoom lens has a retractable mechanism design and standard 3x zoom. It is extremely compact with an overall length of just 1.7 inches, and weighs only 3.9 oz. Covering wide-angle to a moderate telephoto suitable to portrait shooting, this lens is suitable for a wide range of applications, including day-to-day shooting and traveling. With a digital-dedicated design as well as multi-coating on all lens surfaces, this Micro Four Thirds lens boasts very high imaging performance. Bearing the MSC (Movie-Still-Compatible) logo, this lens utilizes nearly silent focusing technology, that not only removes annoying lens drive noise picked up during HD movie recording, but offers increases in Auto-Focus speeds when capturing stills.

This review is from: Olympus M.Zuiko 14-42mm II f/3.5-5.6 MSC Micro Zoom Lens (Black) for OM-D EM-5, PEN E-P2, E-PL2, E-P3, E-PL3, E-PM1 & Panasonic Micro 4/3 Digital Cameras (Electronics) This is a substitute for my current 14-42mm lens (first generation) for Olympus EPL1. I have bought it for reason to be able to use wide angle converter and also UV and polarizing filters. There was also hope that it will provide some improvement in picture IQ. Everything worked! Now I can use lens filters and converters because lens barrel can accept them and it also does not rotate during focusing. And picture IQ is better also. Yes, improvement is very subtle, mostly in the image microcontrast, but it is there. This is a great kit lens. And price was right also. Highly recommend.
